TOWN OF RIDGWAY Moonwalk's one-year anniversary

By Bill Tiedje

Saturday marks the one year anniversary of Moonwalks in Ridgway, sponsored by the Ridgway Creative District and Weehawken Creative Arts.

"Every month we've had a Moonwalk," said Diedra Silbert, Creative District Coordinator, "we've had people just coming out of the woodwork that we didn't know about."

This week, the Moonwalk theme is Creative Transformations of Summer.

From 6 to 9 p.m. on July 12, a Moonwalk gallery tour will take place, kicking off the grand opening of the back patio at Timber Creek Gallery and True Grit Cafe, located at 117 N. Lena St.

The event will feature local spirits from Trail Town Still, music from guitarist Ben Gaudé and hors d'oeuvres served from the True Grit Cafe.

To receive a free drink voucher, guests will visit each participating gallery to find a ribbon, encouraging Moonwalk participants to visit different shops.

Participating venues are Timber Creek Gallery, Heart and Sleeve Boutique, Stock Exchange, Aspen Light Glass Studio, Amber Art and Boutique, Fortune Gem and Rock Gallery, Art by the Park, Sweetbird Studio and Resource Art.

With one year down, Silbert said the Ridgway Creative District plans to create a focus group later this summer to decide which events would help artists, creatives and business owners the most.

More trainings on publicity and use of social media may be in the Ridgway Creative District's future, Silbert said, as well as a retreat this fall.
