OURAY COUNTY: BOCC gives support to proposed OHV legislation

The Board of County Commissioners proved their support of the off-highway vehicle community, agreeing to back proposed legislation that would create a title and registration program for OHVs statewide.

During the regular meeting on Tuesday, Board Chair Lynn Padgett presented a one-page draft outline of the proposed legislation's goals and potential outcomes.
The proposal takes from a bill filed in 2012, House Bill 1066, which would have authorized OHVs and other "powersports" vehicles to operate on roads with some limitations. It would have created a titling and registering program for OHVs; however, the bill also aimed to limit local government control, leading to its demise on third reading.
