Generous support for firefighters

Dear Editor,
Last Saturday 48 dedicated volunteer firefighters from Ridgway, Ouray, Log Hill and Horsefly fire departments were present on the first beautiful day of the year for an all day indoor training. Katherine Ridenhour, a State Fire Academy Instructor from Pagosa Springs presented a class on Analyzing Fireground Risks and Benefits. It was truly an amazing experience to have so many volunteer members from all four Ouray County fire departments in the same room, as well as having this kind of training at home!
This event was made possible with the help of many people from our county to whom we are greatly appreciative. The county commissioners donated the 4-H Event Center, and Susan Long and Robin Mitchell were giving with their time to help with setup and technical support after hours.  The following businesses donated food, drinks and services: Mountain Market, Panny's Pizza, Duckett's A G Market, Artisan Bakery and Ridgway Office Supply. Lodging for the instructor was provided by: Chipeta Solar Springs and Weisbaden. A big thank you to Katherine for coming and sharing her expertise and knowledge and the reduced rate offered for the training since we are all volunteers.
Thank you so much to everyone who made this day possible. The overwhelming and generous support of the community was incredible and in return we are better prepared to serve you.
