Celebrate EMS Week in Ouray County
Our busy summer season is nearly upon us. As we tidy up our businesses, plant our gardens and drag our 4-wheelers out of the garage let’s give a nod to the men and women who will be standing by to respond any and all kinds of medical emergencies.
National EMS Week is May 19-25 this year and the theme, “One Mission, One Team” is quite appropriate for Ouray County. County residents as well as the many folks who visit us every year are served 24/7 by group of well-trained and dedicated volunteers—your friends and neighbors—who respond to any situation where life or limb are endangered.
If you are ill or injured in Ouray County, an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance will be to you in minutes. If you are injured in an automobile accident, the all-volunteer extrication team (Support 11) will roll with the ambulance to make sure the vehicles are stable and facilitate the “extrication” of trapped patients. Should you become ill or injured in our beautiful back country, the all-volunteer Ouray Mountain Rescue Team will find you, provide whatever technical rescue is required and render ALS level care while delivering you to a waiting ambulance or medical helicopter.
These volunteers spend many hours training and “on call” to serve our community. Help us celebrate EMS Week by giving a “Thank You” to any Volunteers you know.Play Safe,
