Ouray French class gives thanks
On behalf of myself and my students, I would like to express gratitude to the entire community for the support the Ouray High School French Club received in their fundraiser at the Ice Festival two weeks ago. Numerous businesses in town donated the supplies and ingredients we needed to sell breakfast and lunch burritos at our concession tent, and many from the community swung by our tent to support our endeavors. Thanks to this, we were able to raise a significant amount of money that will go a long way toward funding the students' trip to Paris in March. For many of these students, this will be their first trip out of the country.
One of the things I love best about traveling abroad is the chance it gives me to recognize unique aspects of my home community. The openness, support and spirit of Ouray helps to make this place one of the most unique and special that I have ever been. Traveling to Paris will surely give my students the chance to experience the language and culture they have been studying. But also, it will leave them with the realization and the appreciation for the wonderful people and community we have right here at home.
