Baked goods and beer will be served under the same roof at Flour Power, the new bakery and bar opening in Ridgway. “It is going to be a family-run business,” said Amy Madaris, who opened the new store with her mother, Becky Foulk on Wednesday, Jan 11. The duo is getting a lot of help from their husbands, Roger Madaris and Mike Foulk, who is also Amy’s father. “I have already hired five people to work in the bakery, and my parents will be running the bar most of the time.” The opening date for the bar has been delayed due to paperwork for the liquor license. Madaris and her mother formed an LLC one year ago and have been constructing the new restaurant and bar for six months. “My husband and I have done most of the work,” said Madaris, as she brushed sawdust off...
the bakery counter she was refinishing last month. The bakery portion of the new business serves baked goods, sandwiches, burgers, soups and hot lunch specials, along with coffees, teas, juices and eventually alcoholic beverages. “At first we were only going to do the bakery, but then another bar in town closed and Colby’s is closed all winter, so there was no pool table. I was getting a liquor license for catering anyway, so we thought, why not?” said Madaris. Downstairs a billiards table awaits the Grand Opening. A dart board, dance floor and stage await future patrons that will sit on the tie-dyed stools. The Bar at Flour Power will have live bands, karaoke and theme parties and will serve food from the time it opens at 4 p.m. until close. Madaris hopes to eventually have the upstairs open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. “That way we can have a band and be able to accommodate a lot more people,” she said. The capacity downstairs is 106, and upstairs can hold 109, creating a total capacity of 215 customers. Flour Power will have a Grand Opening when the liquor license is issued so patrons can enjoy booze in the new establishment. The Bakery is open daily from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m.
