Jessi Marlatt Ridgway High school will host an Ice Cream Social on Dec. 6 to celebrate student and teacher excellence and Ridgway High School’s rating of Accreditation with Distinction for the 2010-2011 school year. According to Linda Karl, district administrative assistant, this is in addition to Ridgway School District R-2 rating of Accredited with Distinction from the Colorado Department of Education. According to Superintendent Cheryl Gomez, the high school performs...
in the top 10 percentile of the state and the Ridgway School Board has decided to formally recognize the accomplishment within the district. This is the second year that RSD has received an Accredited with Distinction rating. “This Ice Cream Social is for the community to pat the teachers on the back for providing a great education for the students that work so hard,” said Gomez. Ridgway elementary and middle schools each will be honored with accreditation; only the high school reached the level of distinction. The Ice Cream Social will be held at 4:15 p.m. in the commons of the Ridgway Secondary School on Dec. 6. The entire community is invited to help the school celebrate before the start of the first home basketball game.
