Dear Editor: I was incredibly impressed with the turnout and quality of people at the Smart Meter workshop on Nov. 5 at the Ridgway community center. All of us should be taking advantage of the incredible expertise Jean McDonnell and Debra Braden are bringing to town from the hot beds of the smart meter ban movements in California and Arizona, and including the Smart shelter network’s regional research and activism in toxic health effects of smart meters, wifi, cell phonesةand now the apparent loss of 30 percent of Colorado forests due to broadband radiation from power lines. Which will be disastrously increased if we allow smart meters to be installed here. Most heartening was to watch three-quarters of the audience take their cell phones to their cars and leave them to allow those in our community whose health is already destroyed by radio frequency radiationة A future that all of us risk. I think that we all owe it to ourselves and our community to become more knowledgeable about smart meters and keep them from being installed. It is to all of our interests to see that San Miguel Power does not jeopardize all of our health and the environment by installing smart meters on every home in Ouray County. This will flood your home with radio frequency radiation in every wire and outlet on the premises.
