The Ouray Public Library’s patrons have once again demonstrated their appreciation for the library’s collections and services. At this year’s Angel Party Fundraiser and Open House, some four dozen patrons and friends showed their support for the library and donated more than $1,700. These donations go toward the purchase of new items for the library’s collections, including fiction, nonfiction, movies and audio books. “Given recent budget cuts, these donations are more important than ever,” stresses Library Director Chris Reece. “We’re overwhelmed by the community’s continued support.”
Additionally, during its magazine subscription drive, the library was able to raise more than $300 in donated subscriptions. Ouray Public Library patrons donated 14 popular magazine subscriptions to the library during its end-of-year magazine subscription drive. Patrons who donated a subscription to the library selected a magazine from the among the library’s current offerings. Current magazine subscriptions include Arizona Highways, Better Homes & Gardens, Bon Appetit, Consumer Reports, The Economist, Every Day with Rachel Ray, FamilyFun, Food Network, Health, National Geographic, Real Simple, Scientific American, Sunset and Vegetarian Times. Patrons who wish to donate a favorite magazine of their choice may still do so by having the subscription sent to the Ouray Public Library, P.O. Box 625, Ouray, CO 81427. “With these magazine donations, our patrons have successfully covered the cost of all of our library’s magazine offerings,” says Reece. “Thanks to these 14 patrons, the entire community will have access to these popular titles.” The Ouray Public Library is located at 320 6th Ave. and is open from Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
