The race is on for the Ridgway mayor’s election. This year the current mayor, Pat Willits, has decided he will not be running for re-election. Two petitions for mayor have been submitted to the Ridgway Town Clerk, Pam Craft. Mayor pro tem, John Clark, and Ridgway resident Janet Smith, aka Planet Janet. Smith said she is running for mayor because she is looking to the future of the community and will focus on jobs and the economy through sustenance and sustainability. Clark stated he is running for mayor to continue the great work the council has been accomplishing for the town and wants to be continually involved with the local government and the community.

The event raised $4,637 for the foundation. In the final round, The A Team from Ouray High School came in...

Ross is a community driven individual and desires to do what is right for the community that OCRA serves. According to Ross, her vision for OCRA is to continue to expand its role in the community and to utilize other local organizations. “We have a lot of non-profit organizations. Those organizations have similar goals,” Ross said. She feels that when everyone works together it produces a synergistic effect. Don Batchelder has announced his intention to run for the District 3 County Commissioner position currently held by Heidi Albritton. Albritton's term is up at the end of this year, but she is term-limited and cannot run for re-election. Candidates must live in the district for which they are running, but voting for commissioners is countywide. Batchelder said quite a few people for whom he has a great deal of respect suggested he should run. “I have a fair amount of experience and offer a unique perspective that would be valuable to citizens of the county,” Batchelder said. He served as county commissioner for eight years (2001-09),...
