What a weekend!
The great 2014 Ouray County Fairgrounds Celebration is over, and it was a wonderful weekend. There were five fabulous days of events including the Ouray County Fair, three days of rodeo, a dance and two ribbon cutting celebrations. I want to thank all the folks who came out for our events, all our volunteers, the Ouray County Fair Board for all of their hard work each year, our investment partners for the new Grandstands — GOCO, El Pomar, and Ouray County — Ouray County Rodeo Association and their volunteers for all their work on rebuilding a new Preifert Arena, our ‘Angel Donor’ for the new arena, and all of you who have helped with your kind donations towards completing the funding for the new Grandstands. This was a true collaboration … Ouray County Commissioners and staff, such as Connie Hunt, Vicki Lane and Will Clapsadl, who oversaw the building of the grandstands. The Ouray County Rodeo Association headed by Erin Stadelman and the rodeo board and officers and all their volunteers, the Columbine Club, the Fair Board and all 4-H participants, and the Ridgway Area Chamber of Commerce. My heartfelt thanks go out to you all. Sometimes there are folks behind the scenes that just keep working and never ask for or get the recognition they deserve. To all of you who have helped, please know you have my gratitude. One special person is Fairgrounds Assistant Robin Mitchell. She has been there helping to strategize, be my sounding board, help wherever needed, plus over the past two years she has been my legs when mine wouldn’t work.
What a wonderful place we live in … Ouray County you are the best.
