Caja Lynette Ashcroft-Redmond, 23, of Montrose and Ridgway, left us on Thursday July 31 2014 as a result of injuries sustained in a tragic car accident.
A true daughter of the Southwest, Caja was born in Gallup, New Mexico on the 24th of March 1991 to Annette Ashcroft and C.J. Smolen. Caja was cherished by her four older sisters: Heather, Sandi, Michelle and Shana who watched over her while their mother completed her studies in nursing school. They were soon joined by brother Ty, completing their family.
Living in various places in the Southwest, in 2000 the family settled in Montrose where Caja grew into the beautiful woman cherished by family and friends.
While in High School, Caja met the love of her life, Charles “Chase” Redmond, forging a bond that would last the rest of her life. Their little family grew with the birth of their first son, Alexander Orion in November 2010 and became complete with the birth of their younger son, Bleddyn Ebenezer Larned on June 2013.
With a strong spirit and love of family, Caja fully embraced the Western Colorado lifestyle spending time in the San Juans, the great outdoors and with her animals (Our Caja loved puppies and kittens!)
Caja was an extremely compassionate young woman who always put her family and friends before anything else. Her ready smile, quick wit, and generous heart earned her a group of countless loyal friends to whom she dedicated her life.
Our beloved Caja is survived by her husband, Chase, her two young sons, Xander and Eben, her mother Annette and father C.J., sisters Heather, Sandi, Michelle and Shana, brother, Ty, and their families along with a wonderful extended family.
Arrangements are being handled by Crippin Funeral Home, Montrose.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the “Caja Ashcroft Memorial Fund” at Wells Fargo Bank.
