Fifty-nine year old Teus Abbas, a resident of Yuma, Arizona, was identified as the victim of the fatal motorcycle accident that occurred Tuesday night, July 15.

According to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Nate Reid, Abbas was driving southbound near mile marker 89 when he lost control of the vehicle, hit a curve indicator sign and skidded over the edge of the cliff. He was ejected from the vehicle and the motorcycle rolled multiple time before landing on Abbas.
CSP reports stated that Abbas was not wearing a helmet; however, Ouray County Coroner Colleen Hollenbeck said he was. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to be involved with the accident, though Reid said excessive speed is still being investigated as a possible contributing factor.
On July 24, the Ouray County Sheriff's Department conducted an agency assist with CSP and found Abbas' property (a vehicle and tent) near Ironton Park. According to the Sheriff's Department, the items were delivered to Abbas' next of kin, a sister in California.
Reid reported that the case file has been completed.
