OURAY COUNTY Crime — and reporting — limited

None of the county's three law enforcement agencies reported any crime statistics under the voluntary federal Uniform Crime Reporting program in 2013.
Sheriff Dominic "Junior" Mattivi explained his department did not deal with any major crimes last year.

In the Colorado Bureau of Investigation's Crime in Colorado 2013 report, all categories of both major and minor crimes under the Ouray County Sheriff were marked with zeros, although the Sheriff's Department did not report in the federal National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) format in 2013. The report stated that crime statistics were not received by the CBI for the Ouray or Ridgway police departments.
Limited staff time, detailed reporting procedures and a period of transition at the Ouray Police Department were among the main reasons the three agencies did not report in 2013.
