TOWN OF RIDGWAY Public input on Streetscape scheduled

On July 8, the Town of Ridgway will consider public input regarding the Streetscape portion of the town's planned downtown paving and infrastructure project with the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Addressing the Ridgway Planning Commission, Town Manager Jen Coates said, "Okay, it's going to happen now… what does the community want to see?"
Topics to be discussed include circulation of the downtown area, including which portions will accommodate one or two way traffic, sidewalk size and placement of site amenities such as bike racks, lighting and landscaping.
Coates explained the CDOT portion of the project along Highway 62 was still in an earlier planning process stage and would be discussed at a later meeting.
The top priority for improvements along Highway 62 will take place from the bridge to Laura Street, according to Coates.
Second priority (in terms of funding availability) was the portion from the Highway 62 bridge to the intersection with Highway 550.
This portion will undergo surfacing improvements and striping.
The lowest priority, potentially limited by funding constraints, would be a sidewalk and other improvements from Laura Street to Amelia Street, Coates explained.
A second meeting on Aug. 12 will take additional comments from the public on the project.
"This is where the community has a place for input," said Coates of the two public meetings. "That is probably it."
Mayor John Clark spoke highly of a previous meeting among town staff, CDOT and the contractors for the project, Russell Engineering and David Evans and Associates.
'I think this is the most crucial point in the discussion," said Clark regarding implementation of the project.
In other business, the Ridgway Planning Commission was updated on the master plan for Green Street Park, expected to be completed this fall by architect Ned Bosworth, and approved a deviation to the Eastside Subdivision Plat Restrictions for access to Hunter Parkway from the Ridgway Fire Department's new location.
